American Balint Society

The American Balint Society is the professional organization for those in the United States interested in or conducting Balint Groups, which are used in training programs in medical, psychological, and caring professions. This website provides the most comprehensive review of Balint Groups available on the internet. It provides published articles on Michael and Enid Balint as well as Balint Groups. It also will link you to various Balint Group training events around the United States. If you are interested in Balint Groups, you may join the American Balint Society through this website.

The Balint Society

The Balint Society is primarily a British organization for learning about and training in Balint Groups, although membership is open to non-Brits as well. It was founded in 1969 to continue the work begun by Michael and Enid Balint, both of whom practiced in London in the 1950s. The aim of the Society is to help general practitioners towards a better understanding of the emotional content of the doctor/patient relationship. Dr. John Salinsky, the webmaster of this site is also the editor of the Journal of the Balint Society which is published annually. Also at this site, you will find information about the annual intensive weekend for Balint training held every September at Exeter College, Oxford.

The International Balint Federation

The International Balint Federation is made up of Balint societies from around the world. This website is useful for monitoring Balint Group practice and training in all the member nations. Every two years the Federation holds the International Balint Congress where Balint practitioners from around the globe meet to discuss and share research and experiences as Balint leaders. The next International Congress will be in Philadelphia, PA, USA in 2011.
